AICAR (5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside), also known as AICA riboside or Acadesine, is a nucleoside analogue widely investigated in biochemical and metabolic research.
AICAR is particularly well known as an experimental research tool for studying AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a major cellular energy-sensing pathway involved in the regulation of cellular metabolism and energy homeostasis.
